New England Fieldstone: 150 Years of History

Why should you buy New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer for your next stone project? Here are some of the top reasons...

1) New England Fieldstone is cultivated from weathered stonewalls, gathered and stacked over the past 150 years. It’s a little piece of history that creates lasting beauty for any stone project.

2) New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer is repurposed stone that is all natural. It is one of the most environmentally friendly or “green” products on the market today. Our Thin Veneer is re-purposed stone, not manufactured. This means that Mother Nature has already done most of the work producing it. All we do is turn it into a product that meets your specifications.

3) The natural earth tones including gray, tan, beige, and light pink, of New England Fieldstone creates an environment that is calming and serene. Each stone has its own unique and beautiful coloring/pattern that could only be crafted by nature. A clear and tranquil expanse of New England Fieldstone can soothe your mind, especially after a hectic day.

4) New England Fieldstone is lightweight, less than 16lbs/SF, yet durable for the harshest climates. It is a dense quartzitic stone that can stand up to all weather conditions.

5) New England Fieldstone is a natural stone that was created by Mother Nature and cultivated in New England. Stoneyard.com completes the process by sorting, splitting, sawing, palletizing, and inspecting to ensure the highest quality natural stone.

6) New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer is impressive on any residential or commercial surface. Natural Thin Veneer from New England adds lasting value to any stone project.

7) Due to the lightweight and thinness of the stone, labor costs are reduced by up to 50%.

8) Local New England Fieldstone is cut the way you use it. Thin Veneer from New England Fieldstone is available flat or round, split or weathered. It also has a matching Building Veneer (3-6” thick) and Wallstone to complement and tie in your stone project.

9) Pricing is competitive and affordable. We offer a top quality product that is second to none.

10) We keep a full stock of all our New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer products. Truckloads are in stock and ready to ship throughout the USA.

11) The stones have a natural cleft finish, leaving the natural surface of the stone. This gives your project the appearance that it has been in place for many years. When choosing New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer, you can be sure that your project will look good and withstand the test of time.

12) Product is available on pallets (approx. 150 SF/Pallet) or in boxes (5 SF/box - 24 boxes/pallet)

13) Corners are available to match each cut (ledge, square & rectangular, and Mosaic)

14) A product guide and installation instructions are available.

15) Finished product beauty shots are available in our Design Center for ideas and inspiration.

16) Specification sheet available with ASTM test results.

17) New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer is available through Dealers nation wide.

Great Walls and Water Spouts

As you enter the pool area through the wrought iron gate of this private residence, you can't help but feel like you're stepping back in time. Water flows from this beautiful rustic water spout, set apart by a unique archway and inlet. This great wall, built of New England Fieldstone Square & Rectangular Building Veneer creates the perfect backdrop for this aquatic showcase.
The owners wanted privacy for a pool that is located directly adjacent to the driveway. These free standing walls are more than 10 ft. tall and span the entire distance of the yard. Once you step into the pool area, you are completely cut off from the world and able to relax free of interruptions.

Our original New England Fieldstone Building Veneer was specially customized for this job. One of the elements that was requested was to leave the aged natural face of each of the stones. The second and most prevalent element was that each of the stones had to be rectangular in shape.

This project was done by Greenscape. To view more photos of this project and to contact the landscape contractor directly, please view their gallery in the Stoneyard.com Design Center.

Lean and Green in Chicago!

We have all noticed the trend toward using more energy-efficient or “green” products. Being environmentally friendly has become a major concern for many homeowners and businesses. Here at Stoneyard.com we carry quality natural stones that are some of the most environmentally friendly products on the market today.

A new private residence is using our New England Ledgestone on a chimney in Chicago, Illinois, requiring more than 2,000 square feet of stone. The beautiful colors and thin cut create an old-world look that is both reminiscent and breathtaking. You can see pictures of this product in the Thin Veneer section of our design center at www.stoneyard.com.

Our New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer products are all-natural, repurposed stone. Dating back to the colonial era, farmers throughout New England ran into a problem with stones in their fields, so they stacked them into walls around their property. As a result, you will find abandoned stone walls throughout New England. Farmers are now cultivating the stone from these walls.

Once we receive the stone, it is sorted by size and quality, then cleaned, cut, split, or sawn as necessary, giving you a beautiful product to display on or in your home. All of our Thin Veneer has a small carbon footprint, making them environmentally friendly. As a homeowner or a contractor, you can feel good knowing that you are doing your part to help the environment.

New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer is available in Ledgestone, Mosaic, and Square & Rectangular. Corners are also available for all cuts, giving the look of a full stone without the added weight.

Visit us online at http://www.stoneyard.com/ or call 800.231.2200 for more information on our New England Fieldstone Thin Veneer or to discuss dealer opportunities.

Fire up Your Winter with a Fabulous Fireplace!

This outdoor fireplace is an excellent way to enjoy those cool evenings in a cozy warm environment! Imagine star gazing by moonlight, listening to the crackle of the fire, taking in the calming aroma of burning wood. Sharing good conversation with close family and friends while toasting your marshmallows over the fire.

Our New England Fieldstone Square & Rectangular Veneer is available as both Building and Thin Veneer. Thin Veneer will give you the look of a full stone, without the added weight. Weighing in at less than 16lbs per SF, it makes installation a breeze! It is important to note that stone should never come in direct contact with the fire. Fire brick is used here to shield the beautiful stone veneer from the flames.

Square & Rectangular pieces are the perfect shape to make the corners flow seamlessly. Here, the stones were used in a weave pattern so that whichever side you view the stone from, you still get a seamless look.

Ehwa Stone Masonry(Ayer, MA) were the master minds behind this unique focal point. To view more pictures of this project and to contact Ehwa for your next stone project, please view their gallery in our Design Center.

Add Tranquility to your Backyard

with a New England Fieldstone Water Feature

The cascading hills, granite outcroppings, sudden streams and beautiful waterfalls of the White Mountains were only available while on vacation to this homeowner. Now with this unique water feature they have a smaller version in their own backyard. The inspiration came from frequent visits to beautiful North Conway, NH. This combination was made to look as if you stumbled upon a stream in the White Mountains. This feature includes not only a waterfall and stream but also a unique echo chamber that enhances the natural sound of flowing water.

Using New England Fieldstone/Granite boulders and stones, you can create your own unique oasis. The Truth about Stone Veneer

We have all noticed the dramatic increase in popularity of natural stone building veneer. Whether it is on a fireplace or the exterior of a new home or commercial building, stone veneer is the best choice for elegant, long-lasting beauty. Stoneyard.com carries over 20 different types of building and thin veneer, all of which have their own unique qualities and attributes.

Building veneer differs from thin veneer primarily in the thickness of the stone; it requires a 3- to 6-inch masonry shelf for installation. Our building veneer is available in Ledgestone, Mosaic, Round and Square/Rectangular cuts. Building veneer is great for use in exterior facades, front entrances, garden walls, custom-built homes and commercial properties such as shopping malls and office buildings.

Thin veneer is available in Ledgestone, Mosaic and Square/Rectangular cuts. It is thinner in size, ranging between 0.5 and 1.75 inches versus an average thickness of 3 to 6 inches for the building veneer. It is great to use when footings are not available. This stone can be applied directly over masonry or other surfaces. Thin veneer is an excellent choice for restoration, interior work and new construction.

Natural stone veneer gives any stone project the breathtaking look of New England architecture. Mosaic veneer consists of “broken ice” pieces of stone that create an irregular pattern closely resembling stone in its natural state. Round veneer adds old-world character to any project.

Square/Rectangular and Ledgestone cuts are fabricated in our New England facility. Mosaic pieces are cut into roughly square and rectangular shapes that give a more uniform look to your stone veneer project. Ledgestone is popular with customers looking for a wide palette of colors including gray, brown, beige, green, white, orange and black. Once Ledgestone is split, the vibrant colors are exposed for the world to appreciate.

To learn more about these and all our other natural stone products, please visit our website at www.stoneyard.com.
